Ye Old Kings Head in Gurnett, Macclesfield was established in 1695. Once a working Smithy but now a comfortable Coaching Inn serving home cooked food using all fresh and locally sourced produce. The free range lamb and pork is lovingly hand reared on our own smallholding which is situated no more than two miles from the pub itself.
With a black and white exterior, wooden beams and real open fires, the Ye Old Kings Head offers a warm ‘oldie worldly’ feel. Stained glass windows surround the pub depicting and commemorating the exile of King James II (after whom the Ye Old Kings Head is named) and the visit of Bonnie Prince Charlie.
Live music can be heard throughout the week at the Ye Old Kings Head, with a Jazz and Blues night featured every Thursday and various bands and artists at the weekends (please see our ‘Events’ page for further details). The Ye Old Kings Head is a proud Cask Marque awarded pub and have a selection of 3 permanent cask ales as well as one additional guest ale. We boast a wide variety of patrons; walkers, cyclists, families and large parties are all welcome. Dogs are also welcome in the pub if well behaved and kept under control.
